Minutes of Meeting of Blofield Parish Council, Planning Committee held on Tuesday 4th February 2009 in Margaret Harker Hall, at 7.00pm.
7.00pm. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION – 15 minutes were available for the public to submit questions relating to the applications on the Agenda and other Planning Issues.
District Councillor David French read to the Council as follows:-
I support this application in principle, as the centre of Blofield needs to be kept fully engaged with business activity. I am unsure how strong the business case is for the introduction of a Café into a small village, but I suppose mothers dropping off and collecting children at the nearby school and pensioners visiting the post office could provide some custom. However the current economic situation is not favourable to leisure businesses.

PLANNING APPLICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION.
20090002 Kimi Hairdressers,The Street, Blofield
Change of Use. Class 1 to Class (Café)
Blofield Parish Council were broadly in favour of this application as they would like to see The Street retaining it’s commercial use and support local enterprise.
However there are still some serious concerns over the traffic issue, parking in particular. With only two parking spaces this will hardly promote social gatherings.
Voting was four for the application and two against.
